Screen-free memory keeping for kids
Camera rolls fill up. Paper asks a child to notice, choose, and keep — slowly.
Why paper still wins
Photos are valuable, but they are easy to take and hard to revisit with a child. A journal page — draw it, write a line, maybe tape a print — turns a day into a story the child owns.
A low-friction habit
- Keep the journal where life happens (sofa, backpack, weekend bag).
- Trigger after trips, birthdays, school days, or ordinary Tuesdays — not only “special” days.
- Younger kids draw; adults help with a sentence. Older kids fill pages alone.
Talk, then keep
Family conversation and memory-keeping reinforce each other: talk opens the day; a page closes it without a screen.
